![]() | Startups aren’t built in boardrooms. Learn from the GOATs on the Code Story Podcast |
Hi ,
The 1X NEO looks like if Boston Dynamics and IKEA had a baby: a polite gray humanoid built to “work for humans.” It folds laundry, moves boxes, and stares at you like it knows your browser history.
But NEO isn’t fully autonomous. It’s controlled by humans in developing countries through VR headsets. So while you’re watching your robot make coffee, someone halfway around the world is actually doing it, for about the price of that coffee.
The company calls it “human-in-the-loop learning.” Which sounds nicer than “human-watching-you… do-everything-in-your-house-with-a-remote-controll-robot-learning
It’s a gig economy for robots, except the gigs still suck and now they come with motion sickness.
Technically, it’s a marvel. Ethically, it’s the uncanny valley of global capitalism. The 1X NEO doesn’t just blur the line between human and machine; it crosses it, builds a WeWork there, and hires everyone for $3 an hour.
Grade: A+ for innovation, F- for vibes.
It’s $500 bucks a month. Would you get one?
Let’s dive in.

Prompt of the week:
The “What Would Break First?” Stress Test
Analyze my startup (product, customers, revenue model, team, goals, and market context) as if you were trying to break it on purpose — like a friendly chaos engineer for business. Identify 5–10 weak spots, edge cases, or bizarre scenarios where things would fail, stall, or get weird.
For each potential break point, include:
Break Point: the specific moment, behavior, or situation where something would snap
Why It Fails: a concise, punchy explanation of the underlying fragility
Reinforcement Step: one immediate, concrete action to strengthen, simplify, or bulletproof it
Be witty, curious, and a bit chaotic — use playful analogies or surprising examples to make the insights stick, but keep the recommendations grounded and practical. The goal: turn failure paths into leverage, and stress fractures into competitive advantages… before reality finds them first.t could make a lightweight version of my startup punch above its weight.
