• The negative impacts of these interactions are more pronounced in individuals with a strong tendency toward attachment and those who perceive the AI as a friend.

• The findings were based on a Randomized Controlled Trial with 1,000 users and an analysis of 40 million interactions, highlighting a niche use case for emotional conversations with ChatGPT.

Humanoid robots arrive in homes LINK

• Norwegian startup 1X plans to begin in-home testing of its humanoid robot, Neo Gamma, in hundreds to thousands of homes by the end of 2025, according to CEO Bernt Børnich.

• Neo Gamma, which relies on human teleoperators for control, uses AI to perform basic home tasks like vacuuming and watering plants, though it is not yet fully autonomous.

• The company gathers data from these tests to improve Neo Gamma's capabilities and addresses privacy concerns by allowing users to control when staff can access the robot's cameras and microphones.

23andMe files for bankruptcy as CEO steps down LINK

• DNA testing company 23andMe has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection while CEO Anne Wojcicki has resigned from her position but remains on the board as the company pursues a court-supervised sale process.

• The once-valued tech unicorn has experienced a dramatic decline, with its stock plummeting to around $1 and market capitalization shrinking to approximately $25 million from its peak valuation of nearly $6 billion.

• Despite facing significant challenges including a major data breach affecting nearly 7 million users and ongoing privacy concerns, the company pledges to maintain data protection standards during its restructuring efforts.

Tesla secures robotaxi permit in California LINK

• Tesla received its first charter-party carrier permit from the California Public Utilities Commission, allowing it to operate chauffeur services but not yet fully autonomous ride-hailing operations in the state.

• This permit marks the initial step in a series of approvals Tesla needs to launch its autonomous robotaxi services, with plans to begin operations in California and Texas this year.

• Tesla aims to expand its driverless service using the new Cybercab vehicle, initially offering unsupervised rides in Austin, Texas, and eventually extending to other states by year's end.
